When making your health a priority, you become acutely aware of what you’re putting in and on your body as all of it is absorbed very easily. We often forget that skin is our largest organ and we sometimes fail to take care of it. One of the more sensitive areas of our skin system is our face, so introducing a plethora of chemically-laden products should raise caution. Remember to check out  The Skin Deep Cosmetics Database, a division of EWG (The Environmental Working Group), who maintain an ever-changing compilation of ingredients and products that are safe for you and your family in terms of makeup, skincare, and other personal care items.

We are continuing the homemade natural recipes you can easily apply to your skin as they are literally “good enough to eat.” Today I’m sharing the bronzer and blush recipes.

Natural Bronzer:
1 Tbsp of organic cinnamon powder
1 Tsp of organic raw cocoa powder
1 Tsp of organic nutmeg powder
2 Tsp of organic arrowroot powder or organic cornstarch

Mix all the ingredients while breaking up the clumps in a small 4 oz. jar (I found these very handy for all of my homemade products). You can choose to adjust the recipe for darkness; adding more cinnamon will adds glow, cocoa adds depth and darkness, and nutmeg adds a sun-kissed brownish tint, and arrowroot powder helps lighten it. This makes for a loose bronzer. If you want to make it more compact, you can add 10-15 drops of essential oils, such as lavender or rosemary, to thicken it. Then you can place it in an empty compact and lightly compress it with your hand or back of the spoon.

Natural Blush:
1 Tbsp of organic arrowroot powder or organic cornstarch
2 Tbsp of organic beet root powder

Mix all the ingredients while breaking up the clumps in a small 4 oz. jar. You can adjust the recipe to your desired pink shade by adding more or less beet root powder. You can even add a bit of organic cocoa powder to make the color a bit darker. Test it and play with it to your liking! You can also make it in a compact by adding a few drops of essential oils, as mentioned above.

This is a very simple and easy way to help you clean up your beauty routine! Both work great and smell delicious!
